What a weekend for Whale Beach!
Huge congratulat What a weekend for Whale Beach!
Huge congratulations to all our amazing members nominated at the Surf Life Saving Sydney Northern Beaches Branch Awards of Excellence — and an even bigger shoutout to our TWO winners.
Surf Sports Team of the Year – Whale Tales
Ziarne Wyatt, Jemima Williams, Kayla Yiu, and Natasha Hodgkinson
This incredible team made history by winning Gold in the Open Female Beach Relay at the 2025 Branch Championships — Whale Beach’s first Branch title in nine years! They followed that with a 4th place finish at State, and backed it all up with major contributions across patrols, IRB operations, mentoring, social events, and more. They are fierce competitors, generous teammates, and absolute stars of the club. We are so proud of everything they’ve achieved — on and off the beach.
Young Lifesaver of the Year – Natasha Hodgkinson
Natasha’s season has been nothing short of extraordinary. She earned her Patrol Captain and IRB Crewperson awards, led patrol teams with calm and confidence, and played a critical role in a high-pressure real-life resuscitation effort. She also stepped into the role of Social Media Officer, transforming how the club connects with members and the community. Her passion, maturity, and quiet leadership inspire everyone around her. This award is so well-deserved — and we couldn’t be prouder.
We’re also excited to share that the girls will be attending the SLSNSW Awards of Excellence in August — a testament to just how outstanding their contributions have been.

Over the weekend, Maddie Zagorski, Eloise Love, Na Over the weekend, Maddie Zagorski, Eloise Love, Natasha Hodgkinson, and Olivia Rees-Ewen took part in Surf Life Saving NSW’s pilot Lifesaving Skills Development Program at Palm Beach.
The program gave them the opportunity to upskill their knowledge as Patrol Captains and trainers for Whale Beach SLSC through hands-on modules, activities, and scenario-based learning — including realistic first aid scenarios and a search and rescue operation.
Massive thanks to our very own Hamish Jones, who helped design the program in his role as Lifesaving Operations Coordinator, and to Sophie Wines, who played a key role as a trainer, coordinating scenarios throughout the weekend.
Shoutout also to Ziarne Wyatt for helping bring the training to life as a live patient!
